The Washington State Convention Center

The Washington State Convention Center

The Washington State Convention Center is a prime location in the heart of downtown Seattle that has seen many world-famous events. It has been the top choice for a variety of events, trade-shows, conventions, exhibits and conferences for over a quarter of a century. Over the years, the facility has hosted over 9,000 events and welcomed some nine million delegates and conventioneers. The facility offers a ballroom, exhibit halls as well as breakout rooms, all in all making up over four hundred thousand feet of flexible space.

The facility’s architecture combines function, beauty and eco-friendly solutions that make it an impressive wonder in itself. In fact, the convention center has received several recognitions and awards including the AIPC Innovation Award-Association by the Internationale des Palais de Congrès, and it was also named the Best Convention Venue in Washington-Northwest by Meetings + Events Magazine. Being an active community leader in green solutions, the center was also presented with the Recycler of the Year Award by the Washington State Recycling Association. Recent renovations not only enhanced the beauty of the Washington Convention Center, it also added environmentally conscious enhancements to an already very green facility.

Thousands of delegates and attendees from recurring events are drawn to the facility each year. Some of Washington State Convention Center’s well attended events include the annual Emerald City ComiCon, The Penny Arcade Expo, the TESOL Convention and the Sakura-Con. The WSCC offers thousands of square-feet space divisible into several heavy-load exhibit spaces, ballrooms and meeting spaces. It boasts of advanced telecommunications technology, connectivity and audio/visual support.

One of the best parts of having an event at WSCC is the food. They have an on-site kitchen handled by a nationally acclaimed award-winning culinary team. The all Pro-Chef Certified team is led by culinary expert Chef José Chavez who has a very close relationship with local farmers, seafood purveyors and vintners. As a result, the facility is able to offer guests the finest and freshest products of the region from fresh Dungeness Crabs, King Salmon, locally grown produce and Washington’s award-winning wines. The WSCC’s catering service believes in sustainable culinary practices and offers a 60 page innovative menu that can be customized to every need.

Another thing that makes the Washington State Convention Center Emerald City’s premier meeting place is its close proximity to the best of downtown Seattle. Guests will never run out of options from the finest restaurants, pubs, hotels to a host of fun activities for the whole family.

  •   I stopped in with some co-workers for a drink last week. My co workers had been before, but it was my first time. Its a good downtown location, but feels more like a small town bad than other places I've been in Seattle. The service was good, and they had a good selection of beer. Seems like it would be a good place for St. Patricks day

  •   A favorite stop of mine. The food menu is surprisingly varied and not really what you would normally consider bar food. bangers and mash, corned beef and cabbage, and home-made chips are some of my go-tos. The price for food and drink are really reasonable considering the neighborhood. Service can lag a little sometimes, but the staff is so nice that it's really hard to be bothered by it. Beer selection is relatively standard, but The Blarney Stone makes up for it with knowledgeable barkeeps and a really decent selection of liquor. The noise can be a bit much sometimes, especially on game days, but during quieter times, it's difficult to find a better bar in downtown.
